WASHINGTON (TNND) — Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar said Wednesday that lots of people in Congress smoke marijuana.
Omar is the co-chair of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus and she was asked by TMZ if she thought it was weird that many members of Congress weren’t open “stoners.”
She was asked to elaborate on her answer.
“I think there are a lot of people who smoke cannabis in Congress,” she said.
Earlier in the discussion, Omar gave credit to President Donald Trump for shifting the GOP’s view on different kinds of drugs.
“I think any step forward is a good step, but we need to go farther than where we are yet,” she said. “We need to continue building the coalition, we need to continue to have people speak to the president. He has the power, Congress has the power, and it’s time for us to come together and get this done.”
