POLK COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) – A man was arrested Wednesday after law enforcement raided an indoor marijuana grow operation in Polk County, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said a search warrant was executed at a residence off FM 943, where investigators discovered a “sophisticated indoor marijuana grow operation on the property.”
The PCSO said investigators recovered more than 50 pounds but less than 2,000 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of about $100,000.
The PCSO said Alexander Vega, 43, a resident at the home, admitted to growing the marijuana. Vega was arrested, charged with possession of marijuana and booked into the Polk County Jail.
The PCSO said it has initiated asset forfeiture proceedings and intends to seek seizure of the land, residences and two vehicles believed to have been used in the grow operation.
Members of the state’s Methamphetamine Initiative Group also responded to assist with the removal of the marijuana plants and to help identify chemicals located on the property.
The PCSO said additional names were discovered during the investigation, and more suspects may be charged as the investigation continues.
