NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A 40-year-old man was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop on Rivers Avenue led to the discovery of fentanyl and marijuana, police said.
Nicholas Vontez Myers was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for defective brake lights in the parking lot at 4310 Rivers Ave., according to the North Charleston Police Department. Officers said the driver appeared nervous, prompting further investigation.
Police developed probable cause to search the vehicle after speaking with the occupants. Myers told officers there was marijuana in a bag inside the car, authorities said.

During the search, officers found eight capsules that later tested presumptively positive for fentanyl, along with about 250 grams of suspected marijuana and a scale. Police said Myers admitted the drugs belonged to him.
He faces charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and marijuana and was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
