MEDFORD, Ore. – A real estate broker in Southern Oregon has pleaded guilty to avoiding reporting requirements and obstruction of justice.
According to court documents, Tyra Foxx, 46, assisted Jose Orozco with purchasing agricultural properties used for illegal marijuana cultivation.
Foxx made large cash payments outside of escrow and converted $100,000 into money orders to facilitate transactions. She transferred over $2 million into escrow accounts using a third-party broker’s trust account.
In October 2020, Foxx received $175,000 from Orozco for a property in Josephine County. Instead of filing a required form, she transferred the money to a trust account at another real estate office, misleadingly causing a Currency Transaction Report to be filed in that office’s name.
After a raid on Orozco’s illegal marijuana grow, Foxx drafted fake property leases and suggested placing phony construction liens to prevent property forfeiture.
Foxx faces a maximum sentence of 10 years for avoiding reporting requirements and 20 years for obstruction of justice. She will be sentenced on May 11, 2026.
Jose Orozco, involved in the case, has pleaded guilty to money laundering and will be sentenced on April 6, 2026.
The investigation was conducted by the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team, HSI, and IRS.
