A Paid Petition Circulator from Lake Worth has been accused of submitting nearly 1,600 fraudulent signatures from voters across Palm Beach and Broward counties in a bid to legalize marijuana.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) reported that they opened up an investigation into allegations against Ashford Todd Monroe Jr. on January 14, after receiving a tip from the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections regarding his activities.
The report states that his job involved gathering signatures for Initiative 25-01, which aims to legalize personal use of marijuana for adults in Florida.
Investigators have alleged that Monroe submitted around 1,955 petition forms, but 1,595 of those forms are suspected to be invalid due to forgery.

The petitions reportedly included forged signatures and unauthorized use of personal information from voters across Palm Beach and Broward counties.
The report states that several voters have confirmed in interviews that they did not sign the petitions and did not authorize the use of their personal information.
Additionally, one petition was submitted under the name of a deceased person, whose passing occurred before the date listed on the petition.
Monroe Jr. was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Friday.
