BLAIR, Neb. (WOWT) – Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana (NMM) has scheduled a town hall this week in Blair as part of a second round of statewide listening tours.
The town hall will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Blair Public Library.
NMM’s idea behind the event is to explain the current state of Nebraska’s medical cannabis program, what patients and families need to know, and how ongoing legislative and regulatory decisions may affect access, according to a release.
Voters approved the medical cannabis program in the 2024 election and the Nebraska Medical Marijuana Commission was formed. The organization held its first round of town halls in February, with stops in Scottsbluff, North Platte, Grand Island, Aurora and Lincoln.
NMM is also hosting town halls in Scottsbluff on Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Scottsbluff Public Library and Falls City on Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Smiley Bee.
Attendees are asked to RSVP on the group’s website.
“Nebraskans voted clearly in support of medical cannabis, but many questions remain about implementation, access, and patient protections,” said Crista Eggers, executive director of Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana. “These town halls are about education, transparency, and accountability; and about reminding decision-makers that Nebraskans already spoke at the ballot box, and we will not be silent while that voice is ignored.”
