Holmes Beach police arrested Albert Forgue, 50, of Middlesex, New York, April 23 on a pair of third-degree felony charges for alleged possession of hashish and more than 20 grams of marijuana.
He was also charged with a first-degree misdemeanor for alleged possession of drug paraphernalia.
The officer had conducted a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Gulf Drive and smelled the odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle.
Forgue, who did not possess a medical marijuana license, handed over a container of marijuana and a glass “smoking device,” according to a report.
Also, a backpack contained two bags with 195.1 grams of marijuana and 6.8 grams of hashish.
The officer arrested Forgue and transported him to the Manatee County jail, where he was released April 24 after posting $5,500 bond.
If convicted, punishment for a third-degree felony charge includes up to five years in prison.
Punishment for a first-degree misdemeanor includes up to one year in jail.
An arraignment will be June 5 at the Manatee County Judicial Center in Bradenton.
