A little bit of chocolate infused with cannabis can go a long way toward helping people with what ails them.
That’s the approach Planet 13 Florida, a leading cannabis company with its national headquarters in Las Vegas, is taking with a new line of chocolate-based products to help consumers with mood, sleep and pain.
In order to buy the products, Florida residents must have a Florida medical marijuana registration card and registration with the Office of Medical Marijuana Use with the state Department of Health, according to company officials.
The new “Dreamland” line features two targeted cannabinoid ratios designed to offer different options depending on what consumers want.
Key is the ratio of cannabis. Planet 13 says its Dreamland products are an industry first in Florida with CBN-infused chocolate products.
The cannabis plant produces more than 100 cannabinoids, including the two main ones, CBD and THC, that are used in medical marijuana products, according to WebMD.
CBN is a mildly psychoactive cannabinoid formed when THC degrades through age, light, or oxygen exposure. It is often marketed as a natural sleep aid.
The Dreamland products are described as an “approachable, and discreet format in a tasty chocolate option.”
“Chocolate is a format consumers know and enjoy,” Bob Groesbeck, co chief executive officer of Planet 13, said in a news release.
“It offers a consistent and convenient way to explore a broader spectrum of cannabinoid formulations,” he said.
In Florida, medical marijuana is legal for qualified patients to use against pain from cancer and other diseases, along with debilitating injuries. A valid medical marijuana identification card is required.
Planet 13 operates 33 medical marijuana dispensaries in Florida, including locations in Bonita Springs and Cape Coral. A complete list can be found at planet13florida.com/#locations.
There are no medical marijuana dispensaries in unincorporated Collier County because they are not allowed under a 2023 county ordinance. The ordinance does not apply to the cities of Naples and Marco Island.
There are CBD store locations in Collier.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s in Dreamland
One Dreamland product is dark chocolate with 50 mg each of THC and CBN that may appeal for nighttime use to sleep.
The other Dreamland product is milk chocolate and is 33 mg each of THC, CBD and CBN.
It’s targeted for consumers as a more moderated effect as part of what Planet 13 calls a “balanced cannabinoid formulation.”
THC is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive ingredient in the cannabis plant that make you feel “high” when you smoke marijuana or eat an edible.
CBD is a non-psychoactive chemical compound derived from the hemp or marijuana plant. It is commonly used to manage pain, insomnia, and anxiety without causing a “high.”
What is the niche for the Dreamland products?
Planet 13 says many cannabis products on the market focus on THC potency or CBD inclusion.
Its new Dreamland products reflect increasing interest in minor cannabinoids and balanced formulations.
The company says research is still evolving but CBN is often featured in products intended for nighttime use and is attracting interest among consumers seeking alternative cannabinoid formulations beyond THC-dominant options. “We’re seeing growing interest in more precise cannabinoid ratios,” Groesbeck said.
He said the company is “expanding (its) portfolio to provide consumers with a wider range of product options in Florida’s regulated market.”
Planet 13 says products with CBN are less common in Florida’s market compared to THC or CBD-focused offerings, particularly outside of gummies. The Dreamland products are formulated around specific cannabinoid ratios, rather than single-compound formulations, according to Planet 13.
“This ratio-based approach reflects growing consumer interest in multi-cannabinoid products, including THC, CBD, and CBN combinations,” according to the company,” according to Planet 13.
“It is often discussed in relation to the “entourage effect,” a term used to describe how cannabinoids and other compounds may interact when combined.
What to know about Planet 13
Planet 13 is a publicly traded company that has cultivation, production, and dispensary operations across Florida, Nevada and Illinois.
It’s largest dispensary, and what it says is the largest in the U.S., is just off The Strip in Las Vegas.
It acquired Florida-based VidaCann in 2024 which at the time had 26 medical marijuana stores in the state, including locations in Bonita Springs and Cape Coral.
Planet 13 reported revenue in the third quarter of 2025 at $23.3 million as compared to $32.2 million in the third quarter of 2024, a decrease of 27.6%, according to financial reports.
The decrease in sales was driven by price compression and a weaker consumer environment in Nevada and increased competition in Florida, according to the company.
