COLUMBUS, OHIO – State Representative Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) this week voted in support of Senate Bill 56, legislation updating Ohio’s marijuana laws, ensuring protections for children and addressing the issue of intoxicating hemp.
The bill passed with bipartisan support and preserves the legal adult-use marijuana provisions approved by voters in Issue 2 (2023), while also working to promote public safety.
“As marijuana and hemp products become more widely available, it’s critical that Ohio puts safeguards in place to protect our kids and our communities,” said Miller. “This bill closes loopholes, strengthens oversight, and ensures these substances are regulated responsibly under the law.”
The bill makes the following updates:
Clarifying Ohio’s Marijuana Law
Promoting Public Safety
Intoxicating Hemp
Hemp-Infused Beverages
Senate Bill 56 now returns to the Ohio Senate for a concurrence vote.
