Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898

What began as a quiet March evening turned into a multi-agency law enforcement operation that ended with four people cited on drug-related charges.
According to a Lewis County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the case unfolded around 5:30 p.m. on March 3, when a deputy was asked to report early for duty. He was directed to respond to a residence in Summertown, Lewis County, where investigators and Tennessee Probation and Parole officers were already on scene.
By the time deputies arrived, two individuals had already been detained in separate vehicles. The initial response, according to the report, stemmed from Tennessee Probation and Parole officers conducting a home compliance check at the residence. Once inside, officers reportedly observed approximately 60 grams of marijuana, digital scales and additional drug paraphernalia in plain view in a common area of the home.
At that point, the situation shifted.
Deputies were instructed to secure the scene while investigators sought a search warrant for the residence and surrounding property. During that waiting period, no one was allowed inside the home.
Two additional residents later arrived at the residence and were detained while investigators waited for the warrant to be signed.
Once investigators returned with the search warrant, the scope of the search widened. The warrant authorized law enforcement to search the primary residence, outbuildings or other structures on the property, and any vehicles located on the premises.
Investigators began in a rear bedroom at the back of the residence, while deputies searched the rest of the home, including the living room, kitchen, bathroom and a smaller bedroom off the right side of the living room.
Inside that small bedroom, deputies reported finding multiple used THC vape cartridges, additional drug paraphernalia, wrappers and containers, and THC-infused gummies described as consistent with marijuana consumption. They also found a small black ammunition can at the foot of an inflatable mattress that reportedly contained additional THC cartridges and paraphernalia.
The report notes that a live round of ammunition was found inside a backpack near the entrance of the room, but no firearm was located inside the residence.
In the living room, deputies reported finding a metal plate beside an armchair. The plate reportedly contained loose-leaf marijuana and empty packaging wrappers consistent with marijuana storage or use.
After the inside of the residence was searched, deputies moved outside, checking vehicles, storage areas, outbuildings and exterior structures on the property. According to the report, no additional contraband was found in those areas.
All items collected from inside the home were placed on the kitchen island for documentation and processing. The recovered items were then secured in an evidence bag and transported to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department.
The report lists the seized evidence as approximately 60 grams of marijuana, along with scales, pipes, wrappers, containers and THC cartridges. The marijuana was listed with an estimated street value of $100.
After the search, Investigators conducted individual interviews with the residents present at the home. According to the report, investigators determined that all subjects residing in the home shared equal ownership and responsibility for the contraband discovered inside the residence.
Four individuals were cited in connection with the case on the same charges: simple possession/casual exchange of marijuana and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
The report states the citations were issued at the direction of investigators. Each person was released from the scene after being advised of their court date and booking requirements.
All defendants were given a court date of May 7, 2026, at 9 a.m. in Lewis County Court. Each was also instructed to book in prior to the scheduled court date.
The case was investigated by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office with Tennessee Probation and Parole also listed as present at the scene. As with all criminal cases, the charges are accusations, and those cited are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
