NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (KALB) – Two people have been arrested following a traffic stop on I-49 that led to the seizure of 34 pounds of marijuana, plus firearms.
The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office shared the following arrests:
Demarcus Berguin, 31, of Natchitoches
Daboris Collins, 28, of Natchitoches
NPSO shared that the traffic stop happened on April 29, around 12:30 a.m. on southbound I-49 near Mile Marker 148.
NPSO said the driver and passenger had active warrants. They also located the 34 pounds of suspected high-grade marijuana and $1,600.
NPSO then searched an apartment within the University Terrace Complex on Fairgrounds Road. During the search, NPSO said they located three firearms, including two handguns (a Glock 9mm and Glock .40 caliber, and one KelTec 5.56 rifle), 20 grams of suspected high-grade marijuana, suspected Alprazolam pills and suspected Oxycodone pills.
Both men were taken to the Natchitoches Detention Center.
This investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests and charges are possible.
