May 12, 2015 – For the first time, the Nebraska legislature voted to advance a medical marijuana bill in May, 2015.
The bill gained support after an amendment to prohibit smoking cannabis was adopted. Proponents of the bill argued it was a way to help patients with cancer, epilepsy and other chronic illnesses.
Concerns were raised from opponents about regulating the drug. The bill was later tabled.
