If you rely on medical cannabis in Ulster County, there’s a big change you’re going to want to know about.
The only licensed medical cannabis dispensary in Ulster County, NY, has reportedly shut down for good.
FLUENT Cannabis Dispensary Kingston, located on Route 28 in Kingston, appears to have permanently closed, according to multiple reports.
The Daily Freeman first reported that a “Closed” sign was seen in the window during normal business hours earlier this week. At the same time, the large roadside sign that once marked the dispensary had reportedly blown over and was left propped against the building, another sign that something wasn’t right.
A quick check online only adds to it.
The Kingston location is no longer listed on FLUENT’s official website, and a Google listing now shows the dispensary as “permanently closed.” On top of that, the New York State Office of Cannabis Management appears to have removed the Kingston location from its list of licensed medical dispensaries.
What makes this even more surprising is how recently the location was reintroduced under the FLUENT name.
According to Cannabis Business Times, the Kingston dispensary had previously operated as Etain before transitioning into FLUENT’s brand, marking the company’s first adult-use storefront in New York.
At the time, CEO Robert Beasley called the Kingston location “just the beginning,” as the company looked to expand its footprint in New York’s growing cannabis market.
Clearly, those plans have now shifted.
FLUENT still operates other locations, including one in White Plains, along with stores in states like Florida, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
While the closure leaves Ulster County without a licensed medical cannabis dispensary, there’s no shortage of recreational options in the area.
Dispensaries currently operating nearby include Catskill Mountain High, Lucky Green Ladies, Royal Blend Dispensary LLC, Domes Dispensary, Herbal Woodstock, and Canna Planet Dispensary.
