VASSAR TWP. — The Vassar Township Board of Trustees approved a recommendation to hire a new marijuana coordinator and established salary terms for the position during a special meeting April 27.
The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m.
Trustees Cheryl Kuzma, Monica Whitburn, Bruce Foether, John Stack and Ben Partridge were all present for the meeting.
The township board unanimously approved the meeting agenda.
During business items, trustees approved a recommendation to hire Cody Legue as marijuana coordinator. The motion, made by Stack and supported by Kuzma, passed by a 4-1 vote.
Board members also approved compensation for training connected to the marijuana coordinator position.
Trustees approved paying Rachel Rabideau $1,500 per month during June, July and August for training purposes. The motion passed by a 3-2 vote.
The board then approved a salary structure for Legue beginning May 1.
Under the approved motion, Legue will begin at $2,500 per month. After three months, and following an evaluation conducted by Rabideau and Bruce Foether, the salary would increase to $2,750 per month if all requirements are met.
The agreement further states that after six months, and following another evaluation by Foether, the monthly salary would increase to $3,000 if Legue has mastered the position requirements.
That motion passed by a 4-1 roll call vote, with Kuzma, Whitburn, Foether and Partridge voting yes and Stack voting no.
Public comment was held from 7:47 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The meeting adjourned at 8:01 p.m.
